About Business
Founded in 1979, Rachna Books began as a humble bookstore in the mountains, celebrated for its carefully curated collection of books. But we’ve always been more than just a bookstore.
Over the years, we’ve grown into a lively cultural hub in the Himalayas. Our space hosts events, workshops, readings, performances, and screenings, bringing together ideas, stories, and cultures from near and far. We believe in sharing knowledge and creating a vibrant exchange of creativity, turning our little corner of the mountains into a window to the world—and vice versa.
Like many independent bookstores with a vision, we dreamed of publishing our own works. That dream came to life in 2019 when we launched Rachna Books and Publications, marking our 40th year of celebrating literature and supporting the publishing world.
Rachna Books also features the beloved Café Fiction and the acclaimed Bookman’s Bed and Breakfast, making it more than a bookstore. Together, they create a “third space”—a destination where locals and travelers alike can enjoy a rich literary escape, delicious coffee, and a cozy, welcoming environment.
