St. Ignatius’ High School, Gumla is a religious minority educational institution, recognized and aided by the government. This status enables the school to serve its mission effectively while maintaining its distinctive identity and educational philosophy.
The school received official recognition from the Government of Bihar through Memo No. 1206 dated 21 February 1936, soon after its establishment. Later, through Memo No. 5642,46 dated 25 February 1970, the institution was formally declared a Minority Educational Institution, affirming its rights and responsibilities under the Constitution of India.
This recognition has strengthened the school’s ability to serve the educational needs of the community while preserving its Jesuit values.
