The congregation, which initially had its headquarters in the Netherlands and later moved to Rome, has dedicated itself to serving communities through healthcare, education, and social welfare activities across the world. The inspiring journey of St. Joseph’s General Hospital began in the early 20th century. On 24th February 1904, seven courageous JMJ Dutch missionaries from Holland arrived in Guntur with a noble mission to care for the poor, the sick, and the marginalized. At a time when medical facilities were scarce and healthcare access was limited, these missionaries recognized the urgent need for medical assistance in the region. With determination and compassion, they established a small dispensary on the present premises of St. Joseph’s Hospital to provide treatment and relief to suffering patients.

The dispensary soon became a ray of hope for the local community.
