At the heart of India’s Silicon City, St Joseph’s University stands as a beacon of transformative education, rooted in a legacy that spans over 140 years. Established in 1882 by the Paris Foreign Mission Fathers and entrusted to the Jesuit order (Society of Jesus) in 1937, we’ve grown from a humble college to a full-fledged university — shaping generations of learners, leaders, and changemakers.
Our journey is marked by many firsts. We were the first college in Karnataka to offer postgraduate programs (1986), and the first to establish a Research Centre (1988). In 2005, we earned academic autonomy — a rare privilege at the time — and in 2022, we became India’s first Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) University, inaugurated by the Honourable President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu.
