Kamla Rai College, Gopalganj, Bihar

For more than six decades, Kamla Rai College has remained committed to its founding mission to make higher education accessible, meaningful, and empowering for students from socially and economically disadvantaged backgrounds. The institution has served as a bridge between aspiration and opportunity, nurturing generations of learners and contributing significantly to the educational and social development of the region.

Visionary Foundation Rooted in Service and Freedom

Kamla Rai College was founded by Shri Kamla Rai, a revered freedom fighter, Member of the Legislative Assembly MLA, and President of the Saran District Board. A man of deep vision and social commitment, Shri Kamla Rai strongly believed that education is the most powerful tool for social transformation.

At a time when the Gopalganj region lacked even basic educational infrastructure, Shri Kamla Rai took the bold initiative to establish a degree college that would serve the educational aspirations of rural youth. His mission was not merely to create an institution, but to ignite intellectual awareness and social upliftment through education.

The college stands today as a living tribute to his ideals of nationalism, service, equality, and empowerment.

Serving an Educationally Backward Region

Gopalganj district, located in the north western part of Bihar and adjacent to Kushinagar and Champaran, has historically faced challenges such as poverty, lack of infrastructure, and limited access to higher education. For decades, students from this region had to travel long distances or abandon their dreams of higher studies altogether.

Kamla Rai College emerged as a ray of hope for this educationally underserved population. By providing affordable, quality higher education locally, the college has fulfilled the long standing dream of the people of this region and continues to be a cornerstone of academic life in Gopalganj.
