About Cafe Repertwahr Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh
The Repertwahr Festival began its journey in 2009 as a modest theatre festival in Lucknow, quickly winning the hearts of audiences. Over the years, it has grown into India’s most unique Performing Arts Festival, now celebrating not just theatre but also music, stand-up comedy, literature, food, and an artisanal bazaar—all under one roof.
Founded by Mr. Bhoopesh Rai and Mrs. Priyanka Sarkar, the Repertwahr Foundation works passionately to promote performing arts, with a special focus on theatre in smaller towns across India, particularly in Uttar Pradesh. Bhoopesh Rai, a theatre practitioner since 2002, chose to stay in Lucknow while many peers left for other creative opportunities. With tireless dedication, he brought the magic of performing arts to his city.
Together with Priyanka Sarkar, he launched the Repertwahr Festival, which started as a small theatre gathering and gradually expanded to include music, stand-up comedy, literature, culinary delights, and artisan showcases—earning its reputation as India’s most distinctive performing arts celebration.
